The Cove School encourages families and students to choose green ways to school. Walking, scootering, biking, carpooling and taking Marin Transit are all wonderful ways to reduce congestion, save time and money and start the day by being active. Studies show that by doing exercise before school increases student performance and attention and it’s also fun!

It's as easy as 1, 2, 3 to make your own green transportation plan. Safe Routes to School has created helpful tools to get you going green.

Resources

    Choose your Mode of Transportation
    1. Walk or bike. Check out our Safe Routes link to find recommended safe routes of travel for walking or biking to The Cove.
      • There is a crossing guard located at the intersection of Spindrift and Prince Royal Passage for those entering the campus from the West.
    2. Carpool.
    For Driving
    • Drop-off in front of the school by driving through the loop and only stopping to let your child safely out of the car. Do not park. This creates an unsafe buildup of cars.
    • Pick-up in the loop by stopping only when you see your child waiting outside. Loop through again until you see your child to avoid an unsafe buildup of cars.
    • To walk your child to the gate, you must park your car. Please do not block our neighbor’s driveways or park in staff parking. There is no parking, drop off or pick up in the staff parking lot behind the school. There are limited visitor’s parking spaces in front of the school. There is neighborhood street parking. There is a parking lot at Cove Park adjacent to the school off Paradise Dr.
    Bus Service

Dear Cove School Families and Bus Riders:

We are excited to offer Yellow Bus service to and from The Cove School. The Larkspur-Corte Madera School District is part of the Yellow Bus Challenge (YBC) program, a joint powers authority that contracts with First Student transportation for The Cove School route only. Some of the key benefits of the service include:

Exclusive transportation for Cove students, using state-certified drivers and buses; Delivery to and from The Cove School’s on-campus traffic circle; Fast and convenient routes; A "Find My Bus" tracking app allowing for parents to see the bus en route in real time and receipt of service alerts; and, Representatives from both Marin Transit and the Yellow Bus Challenge who coordinate operations and customer service.

The Yellow Bus Challenge is an important initiative for our entire community. A healthy ridership rate among K-5 families is an important piece of the big picture. All YBC buses are age-specific and will foster new friendships and greater independence in our children. Riding the bus supports our district and community goals to reduce traffic congestion and make our streets and sidewalks safer for our children.

The annual cost of a round trip is $670 (or $345 for either morning-only or afternoon-only), which includes financial support from our local municipalities. Passes should be purchased online here and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. The route may sell out, so please do not delay in making your purchase. Students from income-qualified households may be eligible for reduced fares. To determine if you qualify, contact The Cove School office. For further questions, please contact info@buschallenge.org.

Let's keep our cars off the road and our kids on the bus!
